For this month's Fanfare Label Muse, we met and spoke to Eloise Rita; founder of sustainable loungewear brand Après Sunday.
Before Après Sunday, Eloise had just graduated from The London College of Fashion, and interning at top magazine publications such as Cosmo, Stylist and ITV This Morning.
Fast forward a couple of months and then we're into the UK's first COVID-19 lockdown. This propelled the idea of Après Sunday; a chic, 90's-inspired loungewear brand for people to enjoy whilst confined to their homes.
Après Sunday has since been one of the fastest-growing brands guided by Eloise's entrepreneurial spirit and passion for sustainable fashion.
Why did you start Après Sunday?
I hadn't graduated long before lockdown happened, and during this time I lost my job and was unsure what my next career move would be for a while. That's when I noticed a huge gap in the market for sustainable loungewear brands in the UK. Everyone was at home seeking comfortable clothing and so that's when I decided to start my own business.
What are some of your proudest achievements so far since starting Après Sunday?
Some of my proudest achievements are collaborating on sell out collections with the luxury personal shopper brand, Threads Styling. I also collaborated with the amazing, Hope Macaulay and we hosted our very own pop-up shop in London. Other achievements include raising money for reforestation initiatives and having such an amazing community which support my dream always.
What’s one thing you wish someone told you before starting Apres Sunday?
Be ready to work harder than you ever have in your life and to know that nothing will probably ever feel fully stable again. It's hard running your own business, even though I'm extremely grateful and privileged to be where I am now, the journey has been harder than I imagined.
How would you describe your personal styles in 3 words?
Comfortable, relaxed, Scandi-inspired.
How would you style your Fanfare Label pieces?
I would let the fanfare pieces be the staple to my outfit, styling them with plain jeans and trainers to let the statement piece do all the talking.
What’s your top tip for being more sustainable? (e.g. thrifting, buying to last, researching brands)
My top tip is to invest in good quality brands with pieces that are going to last. I know shopping sustainable is not accessible to everyone, so if you can thrift or share items with friends and family then this is the best way!
