Esther's Guide to New York

Esther's Guide to New York

New York City is a place where dreams meet reality, and every corner tells a story. From its iconic landmarks to hidden gems, this trip gave me the perfect balance of exploration and inspiration. Here’s how I experienced NYC this time around.

Where Did You Stay in New York?

I stayed in an eclectic boutique hotel in Brooklyn, close to Dumbo. The vibrant energy and artsy vibe of the neighborhood made it a perfect base. Plus, being near the waterfront with views of Manhattan was the ultimate treat to wake up to every morning.

If you’re looking for convenience but still want a touch of charm, Brooklyn is a fantastic option. The only slight downside? It’s a bit of a commute to midtown Manhattan, but the subway makes it easy.

What Did You Pack?

I packed versatile outfits to take me from casual mornings in Brooklyn to stylish evenings in Manhattan. I did lots of walking so needed my flat boots, they styled effortlessly with my Fanfare Label jeans. The stripe top I wore from our new collection got comments wherever I went.

Top Style Tip for NYC?
Comfortable shoes are a must! With all the walking I did—from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge—I was so glad I opted for flat boots. Stylish yet practical, they were lifesavers.

 Where to Eat?

  • Miss Ada (Brooklyn): This Mediterranean-inspired gem was a highlight. The hummus, fresh pita, and lamb dishes were absolutely divine. Perfect for a long, relaxing lunch.
  • Devoción Coffee: A cute coffee shop where I had the best flat white of the trip. The cozy interiors and expertly brewed coffee made it a daily ritual.

What to Do in New York?

  • Vintage Shopping in Dumbo: I kicked off my trip by browsing through vintage boutiques in Dumbo. The neighborhood is filled with hidden gems, from curated vintage shops to one-of-a-kind thrift finds.
  • Walking Across the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges: Strolling across these iconic bridges was surreal. The views of the skyline and East River were breathtaking, especially at sunset.
  • Designer Shopping at Bloomingdale's (SoHo): For a fashion fix, I explored the designer shopping district in SoHo and the newly renovated Bloomingdale’s. It was hard to leave without picking up a statement piece.
  • Exploring Brooklyn: Wandering aimlessly through Brooklyn was one of my favourite activities. From the street art in Bushwick to the lively atmosphere in Williamsburg, the area is a cultural tapestry.
  • Walk Around Central Park: Central Park offered a much-needed escape from the city's hustle. I strolled through the winding paths, visited the Bow Bridge, and even stopped for some people-watching near Bethesda Fountain.
  • Visiting the Friends Building: As a long-time fan of Friends, I had to make a stop at the building from the show. Located in Greenwich Village, it was fun to snap a photo and relive iconic TV moments.

Final Thoughts

New York never fails to amaze me. Whether it’s the food, the fashion, or the energy, there’s always something new to discover. I left feeling recharged and inspired, ready to take on the world with a little NYC magic in my step.
